I have been following Sara Schroeder on Instagram for years. This week I had a chance to take one of her tutorials.
First published June 1, 2024: This year I am focusing on a number of artists featured in Workshop Week 2024, as hosted by The Happy Ever Crafter. I was excited to find Sara Schroeder as one of Becca Courtice’s featured artists, since her style really speaks to me. I think we have been along the same path in our artistic endeavors over the course of the last few years.
Sara offers a tutorial on making intuitive collages, which is something I like to do. I use collage in some of my work. So I enjoyed watching and listening to Sara as she explained her process. Her calm, soothing voice is just what I like in an artist’s delivery. It makes it easier for me to zone in on inspirations and ideas. When artists feel like they have to be talking every second in their video, they lose me pretty fast. Sara did a great job of presenting her approach and it gave me some really good ideas.
Here is the piece I created after watching her tutorial:

I didn’t really plan to make a landscape; it just happened. That is what I love about creating art. I made a bunch of collage papers to use in this, including the black paper, with white wavy lines. I love making these and plan on making lots more in the future!
Thanks, Sara, for the inspiration…
Happy arting this week…
