Episode 40 — Getting the most out of Instagram Posting

My Instagram feed has been filled to the top with posts about how to get more “visibility” out of Instagram. They are very eye-catching… and expensive.

First published March 23, 2024: I try to post to Instagram at least twice a week. And I have associated my IG business account to my Facebook business account, so that when I post on Instagram, it automatically posts to my Facebook page, also. That is very handy.

But I would like to post every day. I have new work to share almost daily, from the frog I am working on for a commission for a friend who wants it on a piece of clothing, to the heroines series I have been creating for my 100DayProject. And then there are the pieces I am working on for an exhibit in Lansing this summer.

But posting every day for IG is not getting me the visibility I would like. And that is where Laura Horn comes in. I have been following Laura for years. She has a very distinctive style and theme to her art that I admire. One day last week, though, I found out that she also has a regular podcast.

As I work on my crocheting project, I thought it would be fun to listen to one she mentioned on IG on how to get your IG posts to automatically post to Pinterest. This intrigued me, since my daughter (of ThreeChattyCats fame) also had mentioned that I should be posting more frequently to Pinterest. Pinterest has a huge following (you can hear more about the numbers in Laura’s podcast).

So I listened (and crocheted) and am now posting two three places at once! I have to say that I think there is more I can be doing, and will have to listen to Laura’s podcast again. The beauty of her podcasts are that they are FREE. So at this point, I am not ready to invest in any of the people on IG who are telling me if I just buy into them, I will be getting $5K a month in passive income.

I really appreciate the artists such as Laura who give away their ideas and time to other artists. I am sure it helps them in the longrun also, but not everyone sees the value in that.

So a big THANK YOU to Laura for helping my art become more visible!

Happy Artventures this week!
