Celebrating Autumn

This exercise blew me away. I made something very different from my usual, yet very similar.

First published October 7, 2023: As I was scrolling through all of the 110 choices in the Art Bundles for Good package I have been using for these reviews, I discovered one that, while it looked kind of “crafty”, the Autumn theme of colorful leaves spoke to me on this particular day. (For those of you new to this series, Art Bundles for Good is a package of art courses and exercises and all of the money goes to the Courageous Kitchen, which is a social service organization in Thailand, offering authentic street food and Thai cooking classes in support of marginal youth. How could I go wrong in purchasing this bundle? I get lots of art learning and kids on the other side of the world get the help they need.)

This class called “Basket of Fall” by Sherry DiPaolo is essentially two videos with a pdf material list. I had everything on her material list, which made it much easier to get started. Sherry assumes that the artist already has made some cut leaves, and has decorated paper for the “basket.” I had not done either of those things, so that added a bit more time to the project.

Sherry’s creativity inspired me to use techniques I have not used before. Although I did not completely follow her instructions (big surprise here), I produced something in just one day (about 6 hours I would say), that I am really loving. Can’t wait to post it in my shop. Here is a picture of how it turned out:

I am soooo loving this! I think it will hang in my house until it sells in my shop!

Hope you enjoy as much…
